Nerd Alert

A quick look at a delightfully nerdy wedding I did in LaConner last August for David and Abigail.
I say "nerd" as it is the best possible thing a person can be! To me nerdy is almost synonymous with passionate.
A mix of class with subtle pops of awesome.

A great venue as it was such a fun blank slate.

The Second Reception

A thing I have seen a lot of recently is having a second reception or engagement party for guests that were not invited to the actual wedding. It could be for the friends and family in another state, your church, or extended friends that would not fit into your dream venue. It allows you to have the more intimate wedding of your dreams without excluding anyone you love.
It can be less expensive this way especially if the format is an open house, a potluck, a dessert reception, or cocktail party.

This particular party featured was just that, a more casual reception hosted by the groom's parents to include those guests who they did not have the room to invite to the original wedding. It was simple and sunny. They used decorations and colors from the wedding and served a light lunch prepared by friends and ordered some cake. Various photos from the wedding were projected onto a wall and I was called into help and photograph at this reception of which I was so excited to do for some of my very good friends.

Tip #003

When you first are about to plan your wedding, create a list of 10-20 words. These words are things that you want for your wedding. This will get you and your future spouse to connect and be able to prioritize what it is you see for your wedding.

These words can be anything from colours, to emotions, to physical attributes, to family members, to whatever your hearts so desire.

This is going to be the mission statement of sorts, the thing you can go back to whenever you are struggling when making decisions along your journey to get to the words "You may now kiss the..."

Tip #002

When you first start to plan your wedding, you should discuss what is most important too you and your future spouse. Pick three things that you can't see your wedding without. Invest your money in it and cut costs in other areas.

A hilarious emcee, a banging DJ, outstanding photographs, over the top decorations, a grand ballroom, or outstanding food. Do your research, ask friends for recomendations and get your party on.

Tip #001

I have been known to be pretty creative when doing my planning, so now I shall share a trick I have discovered that I think are pretty ingenious.

If your venue is outdoors, try taking a screenshot of Google Earth, this way you have a to scale image to draw on and map out your venue.

Honestly, I pasted it into paint and did the roughest design ever. You could even print it out, or draw a grid over top to make it to scale.

Spacial planning is incredibly important. If you are working with a space that is going to be tight, you need to maximize your area. Many venues provide floor plans online. Paint, publisher or a pencil, you can make a map and your coordinator will love you for it.

French Shower

French, Sparkles and black and white for my Aunt before her big day.
This is a bridal shower in the lobby of a modern apartment building in Everett, WA.
My mother and I collaborated on this party.
The cake was beautifully made by a relative.
I made the banner, which says true love in french as well as helped with the overall decorations.
I wish my pictures were better, but this place had terrible lighting.
It was a beautiful afternoon.
