Clever Gifts for The Newlyweds

Whether they be gifted to them on the wedding day, at a bridal shower, or just because, these are some awesome, affordable Etsy Gifts to consider, or if you are especially talented, make yourself.

Customized Guest Book
There are many different listings for many different types, but I have found these custom design wood style ones to be the most cost effective as well as beautiful. Red Berry Guest Books and Lorgie have so many great ideas to get you started.

Return Address Stamp
The new couple will love to have this handy when sending out their many thank you's and will be excited to see their name on a custom stamp. Love To Create Stamps and Paper Street Press is a good place to get started looking at them.

Embroidered Handkerchief
Ready for the big day this particular kerchief doubles as something blue. I love the simplicity of this one, but you can find other shops that offer up a wide variety of sayings and verses to put an extra special touch. Get this one at Linen Whites.

Customized Cutting Board
This gift will be one used for a long time. Sure to awe, this sentimental statement is clever and practical for the new couple. Whether they love to cook, or just appreciate a graphic element added to their kitchen. Lanky Cow has a few ideas to get you that perfect gift.

On Selecting a Venue

Important factors to consider when selecting a venue:

Different venues have different rules. When researching venues, I suggest using these factors to help narrow your list down, and make your process go a lot smoother. I also highly recommend finding their renters agreement on their website, it will have some of this information in it that may not be readily available on their actual page.

  • Number of attendees
  • Alcohol and permits
  • Specific Caterer- kitchen amenities
  • Time of year (the weather)
  • Parking available
  • How much decorations/what type do they allow/you want
  • Hotels in area
  • Tables and chairs provided
  • Noise restrictions for music
  • Sound equipment
  • Clean up/tear down time and team provided
  • Separate areas for ceremony, reception, and maybe even cocktails
  • Places for bridal party to get ready in

An Engagement- From the Woods to the Sea

Photographs my sister Kierra and I took of our other sister Sharayah and soon to be brother, Mark for their engagement.

So many pictures, I know, but I am really excited for these two and helping them plan their wedding.

Star Wars Bridal Shower

I love traditional- but sometimes it is fun to add a little excitement. And them sometimes you need a little Star Wars. I am a nerd at heart, what can I say.
I decorated this all myself, had help with the food, and my friend Elizabeth planned some awesome themed games- All this to the surprise of the bride.

Getting the Party Started

My first big wedding that I coordinated all by my self was in April, outdoors, in Washington.
It was stressful to say the least, but about an hour before the wedding was to begin, God smiled on us and the sun broke through the clouds & I dove right into what started me on this path I have chosen- Event Coordinating.

It was an experience I will treasure always.
Even though I was thrown into a shark tank after just one swimming lesson.

(my special view from the hill where I cued the wedding party and DJ when to start)

Here is a little about me and my dreams.

My name is Kendra McConnell, I am a Business Management student at Western Washington University.
I know how to throw parties. I take great pride in them, and love using them as an outlet for my creativity.
My love of business and organization makes me perfect for organizing, decorating, planning and coordinating events.
I love everything from dinner parties, themed showers or even weddings for a few hundred guests.
I love list making & glitter throwing.

This blog is meant to represent what I love. All things party and all things wedding.
Recipes, events, photography, everything and anything that revolves around good food and greater friends.

Let's get this party bus going.
